Description

Heavy Duty Custom Vinyl Banners (18 oz)

Some banners just need to survive outside, rain or shine, for years at a stretch. That's what HotPressKC built this banner for. Our 18 oz vinyl is the thickest, toughest material we carry, made for jobs like street-spanning signage, roadside promotions, jobsite notices, and outdoor sale displays where a lighter banner would eventually give out.

What Makes 18 oz Different

Heavyweight Matte Vinyl, 1000x1000 Denier Construction

This vinyl carries the densest weave we offer, which is what gives it such strong resistance to ripping and puncturing. It won't let water through, it holds its color under constant sun exposure, and shops can expect it to stay looking sharp outdoors for half a decade or longer. Think of anything that gets hung permanently or semi-permanently outside: fencing around a job site, a banner stretched above a road, or signage bolted to a building exterior.

Don't need something this heavy?

Plenty of projects don't call for our toughest material. If your banner is going up inside, or outside for just a short run, a thinner vinyl will do the job and save you money. Reach out and we can point you toward the right weight for your project.

Available Sizes and Layout

Choose anywhere from a compact 1' x 1' up to a large 9' x 30', printed on one side or both, and set up either landscape (wide format, height by width) or portrait (tall format, width by height). If your project falls between our listed sizes, just pick the next size up and tell us your exact measurements in the order notes. We'll cut it down to your specifications at no additional cost.

Keep in mind that finished pieces can come in slightly off from the ordered dimensions, up to an inch of variance on smaller banners and as much as 10% on our largest formats. This is normal across the printing industry and won't be noticeable once your banner is hanging.

Finishing and Add-On Choices

  • Grommets & Hemming. Every edge gets a durable, welded fold, and rust-proof metal grommets go in half an inch from the border. This comes built into the price, no upcharge.

  • Hemming Only. A sealed, folded edge without the metal rings, best for banners you'll mount rather than hang from hooks.

  • No Finishing. A clean, unfinished edge for banners headed into a frame or track hanging system.

  • Pole Pockets (add-on). A stitched channel for sliding a pole through, placed at the top, bottom, both ends, or along the sides. A good fit if you're mounting on a frame or pole instead of using grommets and rope.

  • Velcro Edging (add-on). Hook-and-loop strips along your chosen edge; let us know exactly where in your order notes.

  • Pantone Color Matching ($50 per color). Give us your Pantone code and we'll dial in your print to match it exactly, useful for keeping brand colors consistent.

Design tip: hold your logos, headlines, and key graphics back at least 1.75 inches from the border so grommet placement doesn't cut through anything important.

Getting Your Artwork Print-Ready

Already have a finished design? Submit it at the exact size you're ordering, with a quarter-inch bleed built into every side. So if you're ordering a 3' x 8' banner, your file should measure 36.5" x 96.5". We recommend at least 100 ppi resolution at full size for the cleanest print quality. You're welcome to send your own file, build one with our online tool, or let one of our designers put it together for you. Every order gets checked by our design team, and you'll get a digital proof with as many rounds of revisions as you need before we print.

Working with AI-generated art? These tools often export at resolutions too low for large-format printing. Aim for a minimum of 150 DPI at your final print size (300 DPI is ideal), and run your file through an upscaler beforehand if it doesn't hit that mark. Zoom in to 100% and check closely before you send it over. AI generators can drop in misspelled text, warped shapes, or muddy backgrounds, and we'll print your file exactly as submitted, so catch those issues first. Stick to PNG, JPG, or PDF for export. If your AI tool produced a logo or icon, run it through a vector conversion tool and send it to us as an AI, EPS, or SVG.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose 18 oz over a lighter vinyl? The density of this material is what sets it apart. It handles years of outdoor wear, whether that's a banner over a busy street or one zip-tied to a construction fence, far better than our thinner options. Lighter vinyl weights work fine indoors or for short outdoor stints, and they're easier to handle and store.

How many years can I expect this banner to last outside? Plan on five years or more of solid color retention outdoors, thanks to the dense weave that also keeps the material from tearing under everyday wind and weather.

What's the point of pole pockets? They give you a sleeve to run a pole through, which works well for banners mounted on a frame or pole rather than hung with grommets, rope, or S-hooks.

Will my banner come out exactly the size I ordered? Expect finished sizing to vary by up to an inch on smaller banners, or up to 10% on our largest formats. This is standard for large-format printing.

Can I order a size that's not on the list? Yes. Pick the closest size that's larger than what you need, then include your precise dimensions in the order notes. We'll trim your banner down to those specs at no additional cost.
